Fishing

The Great Barrier Reef is a fisherman's playground and the local waters surrounding Orpheus provide some of the most sought after reef and game fishing species in the world.

Orpheus Fishing Expedition

  • Skipper Rob Eddie, with over 30 years experience Great Barrier Reef fishing both professionally and recreationally, will ensure you have an unforgettable fishing expedition not matter what your level of experience.

An array of excellent table fish can be caught both locally and within the midshelf and outer reef waters when barrier reef fishing, these include various species of Coral Trout, Sweetlip, Mackerel, Emperor Fish and Giant Trevally. For the avid anglers amongst us, a short 1-2 hour boat trip will have you catching pelagic species such as Black Marlin, Dog Tooth Tuna, Spanish Mackeral and Wahoo.

Let us take you ashore to a secluded beach where your freshly caught fish will be grilled on an open fire whilst you explore your untouched surrounds, pick and eat natural oysters straight off the rocks, or simply enjoy an ice-cold beer or chilled bottle of white wine with your fellow fisherman. Alternatively, have your catch prepared by our Chef and served to you over dinner at the lodge restaurant.
