Located amidst the magical waters of the Great Barrier Reef, Orpheus is a secluded tropical island. Positioned 80 kilometres north of Townsville and 190 kilometres south of Cairns, Orpheus sits 24 kilometres off the Tropical North Queensland coast. Stretching 11 kilometres in length, the island comprises of 1,368 hectares of pristine National Park and the surrounding water is a World Heritage listed Marine Park.

The Townsville airport ensures easy access with frequent daily flights from Australian capital cities and regional centres flying Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar.

Transfers between Townsville and Orpheus

• By scenic flight

  Nautilus Aviation operates two scheduled daily flights between Townsville Airport and Orpheus. From Townsville Airport, enjoy a 30 minute scenic flight over the spectacular Great Barrier Reef to Orpheus.

  The Nautilus Aviation check in desk is located in Gate Lounge 10, Townsville Airport Domestic Terminal. An email confirmation will be sent prior to your scheduled scenic flight. Please bring this document and photo identification (passport or drivers' license) with you for a smooth check in.

  Passengers are restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item, to a maximum of 15kg in total. Should you have excess luggage, secure luggage storage facilities are provided at the Townsville Airport free of charge.

• By West Wing flight and boat

  West Wing departs Townsville Airport roughly 5 times daily to Palm Island. From Palm Island, you will be met by an Orpheus boat and transferred to the island in 20 minutes. Total journey time is 40 minutes.
