We’re thrilled to welcome renowned Victorian winemaker, Matt Fowles, of Fowles Wine to Orpheus from 22 – 23 October 2019.
Vigneron, hunter and farmer, Matt Fowles raises the bar, swapping the vitriol of the courtroom for the vineyards of the Strathbogie Ranges. Matt is an avid food and wine man – while his chief responsibility is the business of wine, he spends much of his time feeding his connection to the land when hunting for his table and playing with different wine blends.
Matt will be hosting a wine tasting ‘sundowner session’ at dusk on 22 October and on the 23 October he has teamed up with our Executive Chef, Sam Moore, to pair a 7-course communal dinner to a selection of his hero wines.
The dinner will be enjoyed by fellow guests, where the day’s stories are recounted and the inspiration behind the food & wine pairings will be shared by Matt and Sam. The menu will focus on wild caught, sustainable and ethically-farmed produce. From the pristine waters of the Coral Sea and the verdant Atherton Tablelands, to the abundant micro-producers and growers scattered across Northern Queensland, this region is blessed with some of Australia’s best produce.
Both the sundowners and dinner wine pairings are complimentary to guests in-house from 22 – 23 October 2019, courtesy of Fowles Wine and Orpheus Island Lodge.
We look forward to sharing a vino with you!
