A 72 Hour Island Getaway At Queensland’s Luxury Resort

Orpheus Island provides one of the best island getaways in Queensland. The Great Barrier Reef lodge welcomes you with chef-hatted dining, pampering spa treatments and laid-back luxe accommodation. It epitomises island holidays in Queensland with its access to otherworldly coral reefs, secluded coves, and an abundance of fascinating wildlife. Add to that the once-in-a-lifetime experiences and you’ve found paradise, adventure and indulgence all in a secluded island hideaway. When you finally decide to book a holiday at Orpheus Island, here’s how we recommend making the most of your tropical getaway.

Day 1 – Touchdown in Paradise

Midday: Enjoy a scenic helicopter flight from Townsville Airport to Orpheus Island, capturing sweeping aerial views of the coral-studded Great Barrier Reef and the many tropical islands of the Palm Island archipelago below before landing on the island’s private helipad where you begin your time in paradise.

Afternoon: Spend your first day on the island with leisure in mind. A signature Yulu Tea cocktail by the infinity pool that mirrors the Coral Sea, a paddle board through the resident mangrove system, a kayak to the giant glam nursery or simply admiring the ocean views from your patio come to mind.

Night: Venture to the main pavilion dining room for a four-course degustation dinner overlooking the Coral Sea. Celebrating a bounty of locally-sourced, wholesome and freshly grown and caught seasonal delights, you are guaranteed a bespoke epicurean adventure. Match the award-winning cellar wine list with fresh local seafood and save room for a delicious dessert, such as Italian meringue with pistachio and lemongrass coconut sorbet.

Day 2 – Equal Parts Adventure & Pampering

Mid-morning: Experience the vibrant Great Barrier Reef underwater world on a guided snorkelling or scuba diving excursion. Colourful hard and soft coral and over 1,000 species of fish will greet you as you explore pristine local reefs untouched by mainland tours.

Midday: Hungry after snorkelling? Refuel with a tapas-style lunch in the main pavilion. Depending on the day, you could be eating food inspired by the cuisines of the globe such as Japan, Italy, Spain or Mexico,

Afternoon: Rest and rejuvenate your body and mind with a decadent treatment at the Gwandalan Spa. The two-hour Sapphire Sea Wrap is perfect for revitalising and cleansing your skin, while the Mali Mali is a nourishing body treatment utilising hot body mud and a rhythmic Kodo massage.

Night: Book the private Dining with the Tides experience. This six-course degustation dinner with wine pairings is perfect for a memorable occasion. Your private table is positioned on the jetty with stars twinkling above and fish swimming below.

Mid-morning: Explore the rugged coastline of Australia’s largest island national park, Hinchinbrook Island, by boat charter. Highlights include guided walks along rainforest-clad trails to the famous Zoe Falls. A true Jurassic-like experience with a hint of adventure (this experience is at a charge).
